A diagram showing about as complex as you can get employing a single-tier topology based on 1 hub (also known as a simple star configuration), IBM compatible at the node. The hub is represented analytically, not pictorially; much more useful. Everyone can understand the diagram easier and it can even be used by the techos to set up the network. The hub profile (list of points) shows detail of 8 nodes. A useful little 4 user network with a dedicated server and and shared resources. Note: You can get another couple of workstations by moving the printer and the modem to the server, which is OK to do, but of course that would no longer be a simple star configuration.
